The human brain performs extremely complicated electro-magnetic functions and, like any other organ, shows symptoms of stress when any threat, real or imagined, is perceived. Under acute stress, the brain's blood supply is redirected for fight or flight in the body, and the logic or creative centers simply shut down. With this shut down, the synchronization of brain function is lost and we just cannot think clearly. When this happens in early childhood, while the brain is developing, the brain will often maintain that shut down as a learned mechanism of survival. The perceived threat may have only been the result of natural misunderstandings in early childhood. Later, not knowing that we lost access to efficient brain function, we commonly blame ourselves for not trying harder, or worse, not being intelligent enough. We learn to switch off when we could be welcoming new experiences. BIT can help children and adults to re-pattern brain activity and rediscover their true potential.
Based on principles of applied physiology, functional neurology, and acupressure, the Brain Integration Technique (BIT) is a comprehensive system designed to improve learning, creativity, and physical co-ordination. Specifically, the BIT practitioner is trained to pinpoint stress patterns that inhibit essential learning and self control functions in the brain, and to then effectively relieve those stress patterns one at a time. BIT practitioners are also prepared to work in conjunction with parents, teachers, tutors, psychologists and health professionals to provide encouragement and challenges necessary to develop skills in the newly accessible learning functions. BIT relieves the stresses that hinder aptitude, motivation, and performance.
Those who practice any hobby or profession, from athletes to artists, from executives to homemakers, can benefit from the Brain Integration Technique by maximizing:
. organizational skills . goal setting and planning . creativity . focussed attention . problem solving . public speaking skills . interpersonal relationships
Athletic ability can be enhanced using the Brain Integration Technique for both children and adults. Eye/hand coordination, gross and fine motor skills, stamina and energy levels can often be improved by balancing, integrating, and freeing access to efficient brain function. Left/right brain integration is a crucial aspect of the focus and general coordination needed to perform any sport.
How Does BIT Work?
Brain Integration corrections are made using muscle monitoring (kinesiology), acupressure, neurovascular points, and pressure points for emotional memory stress release. Each client's balancing program is customized according to specific goals. The correction of Specific Learning Difficulties requires between 8 to 14 hours depending on their severity and complexity. More compound difficulties and children with developmental delays frequently require more than the average amount of treatments.
Kathy is available for presentations about the therapeutic application of the Brain Integration Technique for groups of parents and/or educators as well as to organizations who serve special needs children. For presentations on the background and development of BIT, or if you have interest in learning to practice BIT, please contact Susan McCrossin at the Learning Enhancement Center in Boulder, Colorado, via her website above.
